20+ years of birth service and care...
I began my doula experience in California many years ago. I was still living with my parents and looking for just the right thing to do with my life. Two wonderful midwives did my DONA training - one was a modern home birth midwife, the other was a truly "traditional" midwife, she's had zero formal training and it was wonderful to get to learn from her. However, I didn't get to start up there. I moved to Texas, married a wonderful man who had 4 boys and I was a homeschool mom for several years. After a while my husband greatly encouraged me to pick up doula work and so I got another set of training at that time from CAPPA. This required a written test and many hours of video training, birth classes, etc. I began my work with a late night call from a local midwife I'd had coffee with, she gave me and address an hour away at 2 in the morning and said her assistant was sick, she needed me to come right away. That birth, in the tiniest apartment bonded my love for birth forever...it became a part of my identity and heart's deepest love from then on. In my training I learned that doula support greatly decreases stress and trauma for the mom, getting to do the hands on work of nurturing in that way just lit up my world and gave me the deepest passion for mommas and their babies. I've been at it for over 20 years and can't imagine giving it up. As a doula I've assisted several midwives, seen births that the midwife didn't make it on time, done home, hospital and birth center births. I've helped teens, adoption, single adult moms, and many strong/healthy couples. ALL bring the joy and wonder of new life welcomed and wanted, precious in the sight of God. As president of a local ProLife group, I am keen to see all babies welcome by someone! I'm eager to connect parents with the resources and support they need. God is good and birth is so beautiful. That's my heart.

I've raised our 4 boys, home educating most of the time, had many foster children and even got to attend the births of most of our grandchildren, my nieces and nephews, many friend's babies, and what a joy!
